Elisabeth Waldo is 105 years old, making her the oldest living celebrity still alive today.

A violinist, composer and conductor, Elisabeth Waldo began her impressive musical career on her family’s ranch in Washington State. She was singing by the age of three and playing a small violin by the age of five.

Waldo received a scholarship to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and did solo tours as a violinist in Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Cuba. This tour finished in Mexico City, where she would go on to live.

Born in Hollywood, California, Caren Marsh Doll is known as a stage and screen actress, dancer and all-around entertainer. Marsh appeared in numerous Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer movies from 1937 to 1948. She’s perhaps best known for being Judy Garland’s stand-in during The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Ziegfield Girl (1941).

Today, Marsh is one of the last remaining stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood (which began in 1927). Marsh is considered to be the oldest living Hollywood star, as well as the oldest actress alive.

3. June Spencer - Born June 1919

Having only retired in 2022 at the age of 103, June Spencer is perhaps best known to fans of The Archers, a BBC radio soap in which she played the role of matriarch Peggy Woolley for more than 70 years. Her character featured in the very first episode, all the way back in 1951!

In July 2012, Spencer was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Nottingham for her services to broadcasting. She was also given a Lifetime Achievement award at the 2014 BBC Audio Drama Awards.

Ray Anthony is best known for being an American bandleader and is the last surviving member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

Anthony later went on to form his own group - The Ray Anthony Orchestra. This band achieved their biggest success with a cover of At Last by Etta James in 1952, with this cover reaching No. 2 in the charts!

Today, Anthony is still active as a bandleader and even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Born in Tacoma, Washington, Janis Paige began singing in local amateur shows at the age of just five. She moved to Los Angeles after high school, where she became a singer at the Hollywood Canteen during World War II. This led to a film contract with Warner Brothers.

Paige appeared in touring productions of broadway musicals such as Annie Get Your Gun, Guys and Dolls, Sweet Charity and Applause, while also starring in her own CBS comedy, It’s Always Jan (1955-1956).

Eva Marie Saint is one of the oldest living actresses with a career spanning over 70 years. She has worked in film, theatre, radio and television, and has won an Academy Award and a Primetime Emmy Award, as well as multiple nominations at the Golden Globes and British Academy Film Awards.

In 2022, Saint became the oldest person alive to have won an Academy Award, highlighting the part she played in the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema. Her film debut came in On the Waterfront (1954), and it was this moving portrayal of Edie Doyle that won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Dick Van Dyke is a beloved American film actor and entertainer. Aged 98, he is one of the oldest living actors.

Van Dyke’s acting career started after being drafted to serve in the Second World War. He quickly established himself as a family favourite, on both American television - in The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966) - and film, with his best-remembered role being as Burt the chimney sweep in Mary Poppins (1964). He also starred as Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968).

Over the course of his long career, Van Dyke became a legend of American show business. As a result, he’s received Emmys, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Kennedy Centre Honor.

Van Dyke has continued working in recent years, despite being in his 90s. In 2018, he appeared in Mary Poppins Returns, a sequel to the original film.

Corman’s second movie - Monster from the Ocean Floor (1954) - was created with a budget of just $12,000 and took only six days to complete. Her breakthrough role came on the 1950s daytime drama Love of Life and she hasn’t looked back since! Bartlett is perhaps best known for playing Ellen Craig in the medical drama series St. Elsewhere, which she appeared in from 1982 to 1988 across 79 episodes.

Her real-life husband William Daniels played her fictional husband Dr. Mark Craig on this show, and the pair both won Emmy Awards on the same night in 1986. Bonnie and her husband married in 1951 and are still married to this day - 72 years in total.

It’s this success that puts him at 6th on the Forbes Rich List, with a total net worth of around $117 billion (or around £92 billion) as of 15th June 2023.

Buffett became the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway (a multinational conglomerate business with numerous companies) in 1970 and still holds this role today.

Buffett has promised to donate over 99% of his wealth. To date, he’s given away over $49 billion, with most of this going to the Gates Foundation and each of his 3 children’s foundations. Moreno moved to New York with her mother when she was five years old and it didn’t take the all-round performer long to make her mark. Moreno made her Broadway debut at just 13 years old, starring alongside Eli Wallach in Skydrift.

Richard Chamberlain is best known for playing the lead character in hit medical drama Dr Kildare (1961-1966) - and is one of the oldest living actors.

Throughout his career, Chamberlain performed in a variety of dramatic stage plays; as well as starring in popular TV programmes. Through his role in The Thorn Birds (1983) Chamberlain won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Mini-series or Motion Picture for TV.

Born in Rome, the Italian-French Sophia Loren was named by the American Film Institute (AFI) as one of the best stars of the Classical Hollywood cinema era. As of March 2023, Loren is also one of the last living stars from this period.

Similarly, she also appears on AFI’s list of the greatest stars in American film history. At 21st place, she’s the last remaining living person on this list.

Loren appeared in numerous movies, but is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Cesira in the film Two Women (1961) - she even won an Academy Award for this role!

Julie Andrews has starred in a handful of iconic roles - most notably as the titular Mary Poppins (1964) and as Maria in The Sound of Music (1965).

For a lifetime of service to the entertainment industry, Andrews has received a vast range of awards. In 2022, she was featured in a list of the 100 Greatest Britons - ranking at 59th place. She was also given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards in 2007.

Julie Andrews is one of the oldest living actresses in Britain.

Robert Redford is an American actor well-known for his portrayal of a range of interesting characters.

Redford’s big break came in 1969 when he co-starred with Paul Newman in the incredibly popular Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) as the titular Sundance Kid. This was one of the year’s biggest hits and led to Redford becoming a bonafide Hollywood star.

Later on, Redford created the Sundance Institute. This organisation sponsors the Sundance Film Festival - the largest independent film festival in the USA.
