The Barbie movie is (finally) here, and it made a big pop culture splash, in part due to its star-studded soundtrack. The movie features catchy tunes by the likes of Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, and more. But it's Ken's performances that have gotten a lot of attention and left us wondering if Ryan Gosling really signing in the film.
A look at the soundtrack answers that question: Ryan does in fact sing the original song, "I'm Just Ken." When you hear the heartfelt lyrics, "I'm just Ken (And I'm enough) And I'm great at doing stuff," know that it is Ryan's voice you're hearing.
And that's not his only performance. Ryan also lends his vocals to the Barbie movie cover of "Push" by Matchbox Twenty, Ken's favorite band.
This should come as no surprise to longtime Ryan fans. After all, the 42-year-old actor got his start on The Mickey Mouse Club. The Oscar nominee told Entertainment Weekly that he felt "self-conscious" singing on the movie's soundtrack. He said he had to tap into his inner child star: "At a certain point, I thought I had left that kid behind, and I realized that I needed his help to make this movie. So I had to go back and make peace with him and ask for his help. It was good for me."
He also famously sang "City of Stars" in La La Land, a role that earned him an Academy Award nomination, and played the piano in the movie. On the bit more obscure side of things, Ryan and his friend Zach Shields formed a rock duo called Dead Man's Bones back in 2009 and released an album.
