Out of curiosity, I recently googled “smartest doctor in the world.” Interestingly enough, this question seemed to stump Google. It produced lists of the smartest people, astronomers, physicists, mathematicians, and statisticians. It also provided me with countries that produce the top doctors and even lists of the most insane doctors who put House to shame. The closest I found to my original question was a list of the top 10 smartest “internet doctors.” I was intrigued so I clicked to find out. Here are the top 10 according to the article:

Peter Diamantis, M.D.
Cameron Powell, M.D.
Iltifat Husain, M.D.
Sumer Sethi, M.D.

After reading short biographies on each of these outstanding doctors I realized how accomplished they are. They have done some tremendous things for their respective fields and for their patients in general. As gifted and skillful as these doctors are, however, none of them are the smartest doctor in the world. I have never met any of these men, but I can tell you even they would admit they are not the most intelligent doctor in the world.
The smartest doctor in the world may surprise you. That’s because you are the smartest doctor in the world. Yes, you read that correctly. I said YOU.
When you cut your finger what heals your finger? Is it the medicine you take? The antibiotic cream you rub on it? The anti-inflammatory pill? How about if you massage the finger? Maybe you’re more natural and prefer essential oils or homeopathic remedy. Do those heal that finger? I’m a fan of chiropractic so let’s say I adjust the injured finger? Does the adjustment cure the cut? The answer to all of these is no!
Now let me ask you this. If a cadaver had the exact same cut finger and we tried all the above on the cadaver would that cadaver’s finger heal? Of course not. So, the healing potential does not rest in all the things we do to the finger but rather the person who the finger belongs to. This is known as innate intelligence. Innate means inborn. We all have an inborn intelligence that knows exactly how to heal the body. It’s the same power that took you when you were two cells and divided those cells until it was the over one trillion cells that you now have.
Does that make medicine, massage, essential oils, chiropractic, homeopathic, or other forms of healthcare bad and wrong? No, absolutely not! Chiropractic, for example, focuses on restoring the brain’s ability to properly control and coordinate the rest of the body so that this inborn intelligence can do what it was created to do. B.J. Palmer said it best when he said, “Have you more faith in a spoonful of medicine than in the power that animates the living world?”
