Transfers to another Australian financial institution

Using Fast Payments

Fast Payments refers to all payments made on the New Payments Platform which includes Osko Payments.

If you make a Fast Payment using someone’s BSB and account number, or their registered PayID® (email, mobile phone number):

  • there are no cut-off times
  • payments are generally completed in under 60 seconds.

Not using Fast Payments

  • If you make a transfer before 6pm (AEST/AEDT) on a business day, the payee will usually get the funds the following business day.
  • If it’s after 6pm (AEST/AEDT) or on a weekend or public holiday they’ll get the funds within two business days.

Transfers made to one of your linked NAB accounts

  • If you transfer money to one of your linked NAB accounts, it will transfer immediately in most cases.

Transfers to another person’s NAB account

  • If you make a payment to someone else’s NAB account and it’s not a Fast Payment, then they’ll usually receive it on the same business day if you make the transfer before 9pm (AEST/AEDT).
  • If it's after 9pm, or on a weekend or public holiday, they’ll receive the funds the next business day.

BPAY® payments

International funds transfers

  • After you’ve made your international transfer, the funds are usually received within 24 hours by the payee’s bank and usually processed within 72 hours, but there may be circ*mstances outside of NAB's control which could cause additional delays.
  • If the overseas bank is not the beneficiary's, it may take longer to on forward funds to the beneficiary's bank. There may be other circ*mstances outside of our control which may also cause additional delays.
  • International funds transfers received on a National public holiday, NSW public holiday, or on a Saturday or Sunday will not be processed until the next business day. The value date of the transfer will also be changed to the next business day.
  • For transactions made using the NAB app and NAB Internet Banking, track your payment in real timefrom the moment the payment is processed, until the money reaches its destination.

Checking the status of incoming payments

We can’t see if a transfer is pending or on its way to your account. If you’d like to know the status of an incoming payment, you’ll need to contact the bank the money was sent from and see what their processing times are.
