What is a V-shaped jawline?
The V-shaped jawline occurs when the whole face is slim, with a defined jaw that goes straight into a point. Unlike other jawlines, there aren’t any other bumps along the way – it’s totally flat down to the point of the chin.
Why is the V-shaped jawline so popular?
The popularity of the V-shaped jawline has its roots in K-beauty and K-pop. K-beauty is a beauty standard popular in South Korea (literally meaning Korean beauty). K-beauty is known for its focus on creating a youthful appearance. Dewy makeup, smooth skin and youthful features are all part of the K-beauty look, and that includes a rounded V shape jawline to accentuate the youthful appearance.
K-pop band members accentuate K-beauty features to the extreme as part of their look. With so many K-pop bands finding extreme fame, it’s understandable that fans would want to replicate the look.
What is an L-shaped jawline?
An L-shaped jawline is the result of a more angular jaw, with an angular bone structure just below the ear before a flatter line towards the chin.An L-shaped jaw is known as the “royalty jaw” because it’s seen as a more elegant shape.
K-beauty stars are also responsible for popularising the L-shaped jawline, although it’s a more recent trend that’s gaining popularity quickly.
Which jawline is best?
Jawline fashions are always changing, and celebrities are very much responsible for this. K-pop icons have incredibly strong fan bases that are likely to want to recreate a lot of their aesthetics, which is why jawline trends happen.
As for which jawline is best? Your own. Everyone is different with their own unique features that make us “us”. Your jawline is one of the most defining features of your face, and the best shape for your jawline will largely depend on the rest of your facial appearance and the facial goals you want to achieve.
