Parents need to know that No Escape is a thriller about an American family that comes under fire in an unnamed foreign country. Some viewers might be interested in it as a "turn off your brain" roller coaster ride, but its blatant xenophobia makes it difficult to recommend.

Well worth a watch! "No Escape" is a film that completely captivates the viewer from the very beginning and doesn't let go until the end. Throughout the entire movie, I was on edge, deeply invested in the fate of the main characters.

Khmer is the official language of Cambodia. Taking great exception to the implication that the events of No Escape were taking place in the country, Cambodia's government banned the movie from being screened there.

It was quite a thrill ride and most certainly not wholesome family entertainment. There's some really quite surprisingly graphic scenes of violence, which totally suited the film, but definitely not for young eyes.

Is No Escape based on a true story? Strictly speaking, No Escape is an entirely fictional story and a thriller in the vein of Taken, but the events of the film can very loosely claim to be inspired by a true story.

"No Exit" is violent, gory, creepy, and hella intense. Granted, I read books similar to this when I was about that age (I'm almost 15 for context), and I was fine, but this book is definitely not for a younger audience. I'd recommend mid teens.

What is the story of No Escape? ›

American businessman Jack Dwyer (Owen Wilson), wife Annie and their two young daughters arrive in Southeast Asia to begin a new life. As his company plans to improve the region's water quality, the family quickly learns that they're right in the middle of a political uprising. Armed rebels attack the hotel where they're staying, ordered to kill any foreigners that they encounter. Amid utter chaos, Jack must find a way to save himself and his loved ones from the violence erupting all around them.

Keeps you on the edge of your seat, stars Owen Wilson in a non-comedic role, and is set in Southeast Asia [takes place in Cambodia but actually filmed in Northern Thailand]. 8/10, worth a watch ...

This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat and rooting for family! There is foul language, and violence, of course.
