A personal commercial (also known as an elevator speech, personal introduction, 30-second commercial, etc.) is a quick, effective way to make an impressive introduction. You will use your personal commercial when introducing yourself to a potential employer at a job fair, an interview, or anytime you are asked to introduce yourself professionally. It is also helpful when responding to the popular statement, “Tell me about yourself.”

Your personal commercial should be conversational and natural. The statement should not sound memorized and you should take care not to ramble. You want to appear confident, poised, and professional.

Your “elevator” speech should consist of your name and title, occupation, field of interest or desired position, and something special about yourself: talents, experience or approach. The goal is to stand out from the crowd, to be memorable. Your Name — Make it easy to pronounce and remember.
1) Use a quote, a catchy phrase, or a striking idea.
You can start your article with a striking phrase with an interesting idea, with a quotation or a controversial fact, to surprise your readers and arouse their curiosity or interest.
Think about it this way: a good opening sentence is the thing you don't think you can say, but you still want to say. Like, “This book will change your life.” Or, “I've come up with the most brilliant way anyone's ever found for handling this problem.”
