And it takes a lot of cash.
- Chrissy Teigen just revealed how celebrities avoid public airport terminals.
- In a Twitter Q&A, she explained that celebs pay for a membership to a private terminal.
- Celebs still go through security, but then a car takes them directly to the plane.
Ever wondered why you've never seen a celebrity at JFK or LAX? Well, Chrissy Teigen took to Twitter to reveal the hard, cold, Hunger Games-esque truth to her fans. During her "super A list celebrity question time" on December 8th, a fan asked Chrissy: "How the frick do most celebrities travel on planes? Are you ever just hustling through the airport trying to make it to your gate on time?" Chrissy's answer: "there is a terminal a mile from the airport that you pay membership for. they do the same security privately and take you to the plane in a car. I know. I know."
She's most likely referring to the Private Suite terminal at LAX, which is a members-only terminal that costs $4,500 per year, plus $2,700 for a one-way domestic flight or $3,000 for a one-way international flight. Inside the Private Suite, members do actually hang out in private suites—complete with bathrooms, minibars, a two-person daybed, and view of the runway. (Anyone else getting District 1 vs. the rest of Panem vibes? Just me? Okay.)
Once it's time to board, a car drives members to their plane, either private or commercial. Most other airports have private or VIP terminals as well, like Heathrow in London, the Jetex FBO Terminal in Dubai, and Schiphol VIP in Amsterdam.
While celebs still have to go through security, according to Chrissy, they don't have to wait for their boarding group like the rest of the world (or rather, so they don't have to get harassed by fans while waiting for their boarding group, which, fair.)
During the rest of her Twitter Q&A, Chrissy also revealed that she donates the freebies that companies send her, she asks for "buttermilk hidden valley ranch" on her dressing room rider, she does not receive mail (which instead goes directly to her business accountant), and celebrities do indeed have secret Twitter/Instagram accounts. #TheMoreYouKnow, amirite?
