Not to make you feel self-conscious, or anything...

How and where you spend your money is your business and your business alone - with the exception of your bank teller, of course.

Oh yes, the good people in your local bank can see everything from your current balance to where you bought your lunch yesterday.

Being the professionals they are, they're not going to run off and tell anyone how you manage your hard-earned wages... but do they secretly judge you a little bit?

Desperate for answers, one curious lad took to the internet to get to the bottom of things, asking the bank tellers of Reddit the all-important question: "Do you secretly judge us by our bank account funds?"

The answer is... sometimes.

For most who replied, it was an outright no; there's no way they're going to think twice about how much money you have in your account - unless you give them reason to.

For example, one person replied: "No. Unless you are constantly over-drafting. It shows you lack basic mathematical skills and enjoy digging yourself out of overdraft fee holes."

Another agreed: "I was a bank teller for a year. For the most part, no. But you certainly notice when someone has a lot or a little in there."

Though, you can come across a few unprofessional tellers who will do a bit of snooping when they think no one's looking.

One former branch manager spilled: "Most of them, no. Some of the younger, newer ones, yes. I even had to write up a few of them for looking up the financial info of guys they dated."

For the most part, though, as long as suspicious amounts of money aren't coming in and out of your account - and your ex doesn't work at the bank - you've got nothing to worry about.

Oh, actually, there is one more stipulation.

If you're a d**k to the staff at the bank, you're probably being judged - and hard.

"We don't typically judge you on your account balance," one bank teller began.

"We'll usually just either envy you or feel genuinely bad for you, especially if you're a really nice person.

"We will, however, judge the absolute dog s**t out of you if you're a d**k. We do not forget a**holes. We know you by name.

"If we don't like you, we go through your account history and make fun of you if you have any embarrassing purchases, like sex shops or p*rn."

So, to sum up; unless you're a grade-A douchebag, you've got absolutely nothing to worry about.

And if you are, well, watch where you're spending your money, I guess.
