Andrew Scott joins the rise of celebrities reading racy audio books (2024)

Andrew Scott has joined a number of celebrities who have embarked on the world of erotic narration - after he collaborated with the audio app, Quinn to record a racy new series.

The All of Us Strangers actor, 47, who is most commonly dubbed 'the hot priest' after his role in the hit TV show, Fleabag, stars asRobb the Protector in The Queen's Guard, a Quinn Original series that was released on May 16.

In an Instagram trailer for the new series, the Irish actor said: 'I know a lot of you out there love a bit of fantasy and historical fiction. And, I think you're going to really fall in love with this story.'

Elsewhere, for a TikTok teaser ahead of its release, Andrew can heard reading suggestive lines from his character.

'Look at you,' he says in a clip from the app's social media.

'Look at how beautifully your body bears the marks of everything you've been through.

'I'll worship every one of them.'

The brand, Quinn, describes itself as 'the app for audio erotica. Made for women, for the world.'

It appears both on their website and as a mobile app offering 'spicy audio stories, guided masturbation, dirty talk, and more.'

Their website added: 'The audios on Quinn are designed to help you get there, but they also involve fun and interesting plots.'

Among those who are already part of the titillating team of readers are Thomas Doherty, a Scottish singer and actor best known for appearing in the Disney Channel musical series and the reboot of HBO series, Gossip Girl.

Doherty appeared in three 30 minute audios of the story, The Inventor's Apprentice.

American actor and producer, Jesse Williams, also appeared in the audio romance, The Misty Door.

He is known for his roles in the series, Grey's Anatomy and the horror film, Cabin in The Woods.

Another A-lister who has gotten involved in the aspiring industry is American actress, Victoria Pedretti, who starred in season two the Netflix series, You, alongside Penn Badgley.

She appeared as a criminal agent in her own three-part story, Compromised, also available on Quinn.

Andrewrecently achieved high praise for the Netflix adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley, where he collected the Critics' Circle Theatre award for his remarkable performance in a contemporary rendering of the Chekhov masterpiece Vanya

However, the win was met with sadness for Andrew who's devoted mother Nora passed away with a 'sudden illness' in March - shortly before Mother's Day and his winning the award.

When accepting his award in April earlier this year, he dedicated the honourto her memory by telling audience members 'she was the source of practically every joyful thing in my life'.

In January, the actor and his co-star Paul Mescal admitted they weren't too keen on their family members watching their new film - All Of Us Strangers.

The movie stars Andrew as a screenwriter drawn back to his childhood home who enters into a relationship with a mysterious neighbour, played by Paul, 27.

The film features several intimate scenes between the actors which the pair discussed during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

Asked if their families had seen the flick yet, Paul said: 'With the Irish premiere, trying to allocate tickets to all the aunties and uncles is a tricky business.

'They have seen my bum before but there is a little more going on in this movie I would say!'

Andrew added: 'I don't want to be there when my parents watch it!'

Audio erotica has become one of the latest tools for alternative sensual material, relying purely on the mode of voice to invoke sexual intimacy. Dipsea and Ferly are also among emerging companies who have joined the movement for racy audio content.

Anna Richards Founder & CEO of Frolicme.com previously told FEMAIL that audio p*rn first took off during the years of the Covid pandemic because so many of us sought solace and escapism in our technology.

Anna explained that in the first six weeks after the initial lockdown in March 2020, she saw a 48 per cent increase in listening figures to her site's Frolicme's audio p*rn stories with 61 per cent being female enjoying the steamy narratives.

Audio erotica is about visualising rather than seeing p*rn

In recent years, audio erotica has become increasingly popular for people who don't like visual p*rn in the traditional sense. Driven by Covid and a lack of female oriented p*rn, audio has brought on a wave of new apps and websites where people can access arousing whispers, whimpers, and voices.

The app, Quinn, describes itself as 'the app for audio erotica. Made for women, for the world' offering 'spicy audio stories, guided masturbation, dirty talk, and more.'

Though it's thought to target a solely female audience, founder of the app, Caroline Spiegel, previously said that their audience is made up of an even split of both men and women.

Audio erotica enables user to slip into fantasy and visualise scenes through voice, rather than relying on real life videos.

Though Quinn has recently invested in celebrity voices, including the 'hot priest' actor, Andrew Scott, they offer numerous stories to choose from. Stories come attached to tags such as 'dirty talk' or 'hotel room' etc.

Andrew plays Robb the Protector in Quinn's latest celebrity series, The Queen's Guard. The story involves a love affair between Robb and the protector of a cruel queen called Mira.

In one clip, he reads: 'Has it been a very long time since anyone has touched you the way you like to be touched, Mira?'

'You' actress, Victoria Pedretti, also stars in her own series called Compromised. One line from her story reads: 'You feel so good pressed against me. Touching you … God. It's just Andie and Zara.'

Female-founded start-ups such as Dipsea, an app of short stories ranging from five to 20 minutes, launched during lockdown as a way for women to focus on their bodies through guided sexual audio.

Anna said: 'The rapid interest in audio p*rn has allowed us to continue our natural interest in sex for arousal.'

She added: 'It removes the negative issues surrounding mass-produced extreme gratuitous p*rn, the type of p*rn that is more a turn-off than a turn-on.'

According to Anna, because Gen Z are more attuned with their phones and social media, they are more likely to enjoy sexting their partners and therefore more likely to seek the familiarity in this format of erotica.

'Whispered words into your lover's ear of a sexually intimate nature can be like lighting the fuse during your sexual encounters and quite literally tip them over the edge.'
