A common interview question - describe yourself in 3 words (2024)

This is one of the most common questions asked in interviews across many levels. Understanding how you might respond to this question could be the key in being selected for the position. It isn’t enough to use great words, one must be able to make them fit into your job role convincingly if asked to give further explanations.

This question is an assessment question and is designed to bring out the real personality that is within you. The most common answer is - professional, enthusiastic and hard-working. But can you make them fit into the vacancy you are applying for? Dependable, resilient, resourceful, self-motivated, loyal/honest/trustworthy, energetic, able/multi-tasker, commercially aware, experienced/technically astute, flexible, results-driven, am a work-in-progress are some other words to respond with. It is advisable to see which words fit the role you are applying for and rehearse the appropriate meaning and the context of those words, to fluently improvise if required!

It works well to think of yourself as a product for sale, when being interviewed.
